Volunteer FAQ

What types of calls do you answer?
Craley answers diverse calls, keeping the volunteer experience exciting! We respond to residential, commercial, vegetation and vehicle fires, as well as medical calls, downed wires and gas leaks.

What kind of training do volunteers receive?
We train every other Wednesday at the fire company, plus provide you with gear and access to additional training at the York County Fire Academy. No prior experience is required to join us!

Will I be paid?
We are a 100% volunteer organization and do not have paid positions.

How much time will I spend volunteering?
Volunteering is a time commitment that takes dedication and drive. We encourage volunteers to attend weekly training sessions and respond to calls when they can. However, we understand if work or other commitments prevent you from responding.

How do I sign up or learn more?
You can express interest in volunteering by filling out a no-obligation inquiry form on the JOIN US page. A member from our recruitment committee will contact you shortly to tell you more about Craley and invite you to visit the station.

The fire department offers a different thing for each person, but in the end we’re all family and have each other’s back. That’s the best part for me.
